June 2, 1965 – Fr. Weber, a Holy Cross priest, comes to Lafayette with the task of developing a new parish
September 26, 1965 – First Mass celebrated in a lumber warehouse
January 1966 – Fr. Pellegrin, C.S.C. assigned as Associate
March 1966 – Property purchased for building new church
August 1967 – Fr. Crumbley, C.S.C. assigned to replace Fr. Pellegrin
Summer of 1968 – Brother James Doherty, C.S.C. assigned to help in the parish programs
March 30, 1969 – Palm Sunday, first Mass celebrated in new church
July 1973 – Fr. Crumbley appointed pastor
March 1977 – Fr. Allen Cormier, C.S.C. appointed pastor
August 9, 1980 – Deacon Mike Clark ordained as the first Deacon for the parish
June 15, 1982 – Fr. Floyd Calais, a diocesan priest, assigned to Holy Cross
July 1983 – New Life Center for staff offices and classrooms completed
August 26, 1988 – Deacon Norbert Luke ordained and assigned to Holy Cross
July 1991 – Additional classrooms and office space completed and named the “Calais Center” after the pastor
1994 – Fr. Calais retires after 40 years of priesthood
June 30, 1994 – Fr. Martin Borcherding appointed pastor and celebrated his first mass
February 19, 1995 – Mortgage on Calais Center was paid
September 28, 1995 – Work begins on renovation of church
October 5, 1999 – First high school Youth Group meeting held
February 12, 2000 – Deacon Rickey Picard ordained and assigned to Holy Cross
June 3, 2000 – “Kids on the Move” became part of parish life
March 1, 2002 – Deacon Norbert Luke passes away
April 2002 – New Holy Cross Family Center opened
May 26, 2002 – Bishop Edward O’Donnell dedicates new administration building, Family Center, and Prayer Garden
July 1, 2007 – Fr. Howard Blessing appointed pastor of Holy Cross
March 2, 2012 – Deacon Mike Clark passes away
July 1, 2012 – Little Shepherds becomes a school with the Lafayette Diocese Catholic School System
August 9, 2012 – Deacon Kenneth David ordained and assigned to Holy Cross
July 18, 2013 – Father Martin Borcherding passes away
September 14, 2015 – The 50th Anniversary of Holy Cross Parish, which has grown to serve 2,497 families
October 1, 2015 – Deacon Jim Kincel assigned to Holy Cross
May 21, 2016 – Deacon Scotty Baudoin ordained and assigned to Holy Cross
May 21, 2016 – Father Blessing celebrated 40 years of priesthood
June 1, 2017 – Deacon Robert Klingman assigned to Holy Cross
July 1, 2019 – Father Mario Romero assigned to Holy Cross
