The Knights of Columbus at Holy Cross, Council 7275, supports Holy Cross parish and the Lafayette Diocese through service and good works while following the four core principles of cI'veharity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. They were officially chartered as KC Council 7275 on March 15, 1979 with 37 members. Today the council has grown to over 175 members. Our council is committed to giving enumerable hours of service to God, church, and family while “loving neighbor” and being responsible citizens of our country. Since charity is our order’s first principle and it is the basis for all we do as brother Knights. We continue to remain true to our founder, Fr. McGiveny’s vision of helping to keep our members strong in their Catholic faith and serving those less fortunate. We are steadfast in the defense and promotion of a Culture of Life by recognizing that human life is sacred from its very beginning to its end. We work hard to promote pro-life and we participate each year in pro-life events including masses, rallies, and seminars. Our council actively participates in fundraising for a large variety of ministries and projects in the Acadiana area. We assist in disaster relief, meals on wheels, Habitat for Humanity, LARC at Acadien Village, women’s shelter and refuge relief. The KC’s have always been an organization dedicated to the well-being and support of family life and we continue to dedicate our time, talent and resources to promoting the new evangelization of the Catholic church. We are big proponents of Catholic youth, religious formation and education and sponsor high school seniors with scholarships. Our council actively supports seminarians and Carmelite novices with financial assistance. Since 2013 our KC members have actively participated in the ACTS retreat as team members and in cooking. Our council holds several fundraising projects each year including Lenten fish fry dinners, gumbos, jambalaya dinners, and chicken barbecue dinners. Members and their families have always been active in these fundraising events.
